Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The course explain possibilities of 3D printing, to take digital design to reality. Lessons will introduce the basic principles of 3D printing. How to create high quality 3D models for rapid prototyping. Students will step by step create models in SketchUp, Rhino, or any 3D modeling program supporting export to STL files. Possibilities adjusting the existing 3D models from Thingiverse or any other online repository of 3D models. Advanced printing techniques in a 3D printer for optimal results.
Create models for 3D printing is a little bit different process than create modeling for visualization and BIM. In order to print 3D objects models, it should be created like a solid. So, it have not to glue the different pieces together after finish of the printing process. For complex architectural and urban models, this step may take many hours if model was not originally created with the vision of final 3D printing.
In the end of course we apply new knowledges and practise new commands. As well architectural and urban models.
