The condition to pass the course consists of two tasks:
10 min. presences, max. 3 excused absences
Task nr.1 – 5th week of semester, max. 40 points
3D modelling of simple object (work with curves and surfaces)
Task nr.2 – delivery of final 3D model during the credit week, max. 60 points:
3D modelling of middle difficulty object + visualisation ( manipulation with objects and their properties, final scene and rendering).
The tasks will be delivered in digital and printed version, format A4 (details of the student and pedagogue should be situated at the bottom of the page (min. size of text is 11p.):
Name of object /name of student / name of referee / name of lecturer /course number / year /semester / school year / Department of Design / Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava / Logo of the faculty.
To obtain credits, it is necessary to accomplish all the tasks and reach a min. of 56 points in final sum of the points. Course evaluation is defined by classification of the study regulations
at FA STU.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Capable of basic 3D modelling in program Rhinoceros 5.0
Course contents:
Introduction to types of 3D modelling software

Introduction to Rhinoceros 5.0

Manipulation and environment set-up (system of coordinates, views layout and display modes, manipulation in 3D space, toolbars, modelling tools)

Curve creation (points and lines, poly-lines, curves, )

Surface generation (NURBS surfaces, surfaces from curves and from net of curves, surfaces from other surfaces, solids and connected surfaces.

Modification and editing of curves and surfaces (selection, selection of objects, splitting and joining of curves)

Transformation of objects

Analysis of objects and their properties

Files manipulation (import, export, types of outputs)

Layers and their properties

Rendering (materials, lights, set-up of scene, cameras, editing of object properties, output properties and saving into the correct file type).
