|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|To develop students' communicative competence with respect to their academic and professional needs. After having completed the course, the students should be able to: talk about general and professional topics in the form of spontaneous dialogue and prepared monologue, correctly and appropriately react to the information they hear in speaking, read and understand specialist literature, communicate politely, maintain intercultural spoken and written communication.|
|Prerequisites and co-requisites:||none|
|Grammatical and lexical structures: usage of verb tenses, frequently used propositions and phrasal verbs, differences between general and specialist language, differences in usage of formal and informal language, terminology in electrical engineering and IT.
Writing skill: instructions, definitions.
Reading comprehension: reading for gist and study reading, reading for finding specific information, guessing meaning from context.
Speaking: dialogue on specialist and social occasions.
