Assesment methods:
from two tests. Elaborate of the project.
Active participation in the exercises, positive bilance - 2 tests during the semester, semestral project - processing and defense. Successful completion of the final written examination.
Evaluation - in accordance with the study regulations STU, Art. 16, para. 2 and 3
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After completing the course, students will be able to solve the different basic types of mechanical stress components and structures, to calculate of internal force quantities ​​caused by external load, to perform strength check and strength design of simple structures loaded by basic types of stress and their combinations.
 
Course contents:
Fundamental terms and methods.
Statically determinate and indeterminate systems under tension/compression.
Planar and spatial stress state. Ultimate states and hypotheses.
Elementary bending theory. Deformation of the beam.Statically indeterminate beams.
Shear and torsion. Non-circular cross-section rod torsion, free and constrained torsion.
Combined stress states. Introduction to fracture and fatigue mechanics
Numerical and experimental methods, fundamentals of finite element method.
