Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim is to learn the fundamentals of safety engineering, which will enable to assess the safety of working environment, living environment and products and system safety. The gained knowledge will make it possible to assess the technical and human risks in the workplace.

1. Basic concepts, terminology and introduction to risk management
2. Risk Assessment techniques according to ČSN EN 31010
3. Legislative requirements for safety, generally non-binding documents.
4. Basics of risk assessment
5. Preliminary Hazard Analysis
6. Hazard and operability study (HAZOP)
7. Failure modes and effects analysis (FEMA)
8. Lighting as an important factor in the work environment
9. Chemical and biological factors
10. Microclimatic factors
11. Noise and vibrations
12. Health and fire hazards of dust
13. Safety Management Systems

Exercises:
Requirements for term papers, work with MS Word and Excel
Literary sources, citations, computer support
Risk analysis of selected system using Checklist and Risk Matrix
Risk analysis of selected system by the means of preliminary hazard analysis and point method
Risk analysis of the selected system using the HAZOP study
Risk analysis of the selected system using FMEA / FMECA
Application of a combination of selected methods in a more comprehensive risk analysis of the selected system

 
Assesment methods and criteria: Continuous assessment in the form of submission of semester paper, participation and activity in the exercises (20% of the total score).
Final test (80% of the total score).
