Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The lecturer will gain knowledge about the safety of materials and products with an emphasis on occupational safety, fire safety, environmental safety, consumer safety and forensic engineering.
 
Course contents:
Basic philosophy of safety assessment of materials and products
- Mechanical properties and limitations of materials
- Safety of materials and products in the working environment
- Fire-technical properties of materials and products and ways of testing them
- Safety of electrical products
- Life cycle assessment of the material and its impact on the environment
- Assessment of product safety from the point of view of consumer safety
- Rapid alert system for non-food products
- The role of forensic engineering in the safety of materials and products
