Learning outcomes of the course unit:
This subject is organized for students who want to orient to computer application in technology process control. The fundamental problem of this course is to give knowledge of facts and information about principles of the data acquisition, conversion and communication techniques. Course gives fundamental knowledge of control units design and their connection to various types of buses and with analog environment. Significant part of course is dedicated to Structured Cabling Design.

• Fundamentals of data acquisition, conversion and transmission systems
• Fundamentals of computer control systems and their architectures
• Measuring channel, intelligent sensors and actors
• Analog converters, intrinsic safety, overvoltage safety
• Communication standards
• Architecture and topology of computer network physical layer
• Structured cabling standards
• Projects documentation

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:
Lab exercises:
Lab exercises are organized during the first four weeks of the semester in the form of seminars.

Managed individual work of students:
In the 4. week of the semester the projects topics will be assigned for the managed individual work of students.
In the following weeks is the scheduled time devoted to the projects consultations.

Exam:
The final exam test with questions covering the presented topics.
The test questions will be multi-choice, single or multi-answer.
 
Assesment methods and criteria:
- final exam - 60%
