Assesment methods:
Participation in lectures and exercises. During the semester, one test will be evaluated by a maximum of 15 points. Within the semester students have two individual projects rated max. 30 points. The final assessment consists of a continuous assessment (1 test, personal engagement), individual assignments and exam evaluation (55 points). From the test, the individual assignments and from the examination, the student has to get a score of at least 50 percent.
The final evaluation is as follows: A - min. 92 points, B - min. 83 points, C - min. 74 points, D - min. 65 points, E - min. 56 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student acquires knowledge about electric motors and their integration into electromechanical system. He will be able of dimensioning the motor for a specified load. Student will be familiar with the principle, basic ways of connectioning and controlling electric motors. The student will be able to design the parameters of the torque generator and speed actuator control circuits and choose the speed sensor with respect to the control range.
Course contents:
Dynamics and kinematics of motion systems. Electromechanical systems. Electric machine. Principle of operation and methods of control of rotary electric motors (DC, asynchronous, synchronous, BLDC and stepper motor). Servo drive. Torque generator with DC and AC motors. The speed servo drives: structures of the control loop and method of synthesis of the controller.
