Assesment methods:
Students will get credits of the course if they successfully pass the exam. The exam consists of both, writing and oral part. The maximum number of points for the exam is 20 and students will pass the exam successfully if they earn at least 11 points.

Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To supply the PhD students with extended information on theory of weldability of steel and nonferrous metals, plasticity, of foundry materials, laws of the technological process of machining, the means and methods of calculation and optimization of process parameters.
Course contents:
Weldability of steel and nonferrous metals.
Mould materials and their properties. Phenomena at the metal-mould interface. Foundry metals and alloys and their properties. The rheology of metals and alloys. Properties of metals in the semi-solid state. The primary crystallization. Basic morphological types of primary structures. Rapid solidification processes (RSP). Solidification processes within the high external pressure action. Solidification processes within the induced force flow action. Diffusion controlled solidification.
Methods of parts production . Laws of shapes, relative positions and order of operations.
Fundamental technological terms, symbols, their mathematical models calculating and mutual relations.
Optimalization of the selection: cutting material, cutting tool, cutting wedge geometry, cutting conditions, cutting environment, method of clamping and machining allowances.
Formability, plasticity of isotropic and anisotropic continuum. Numeric analysis of metal forming processes. High-strength steels for metal forming.
