Assesment methods:
Student develops the individual project from chosen field of study during the term. The partial results are continuously evaluated, the final assessment consist of elaborated individual project and oral exam.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
After the subject completion the student is able to create and solve issues connected with the impacts of ionizing radiation on human body, in field of radiation protection and measurement of ionizing radiation doses and the student will be to use computational modelling and simulating tools.
Course contents:
Dosimetry and radiation protection:
Dosimetric terminology and basic units in dosimetry. Biological effects of radiation. Basic principles of radiation protection. Sources of radiation in nuclear power plant. Exposition of public caused by leakages of radioactive materials from nuclear power plants. Detectors and methods used in nuclear power engineering.

Computational modelling and simulations:
Stochastic methods – transportation method Monte Carlo, MCNP code, SERPENT.
Deterministics methods. Neutronic and reactor-physical codes. Thermohydraulic codes. System codes. Safety analysis.
