Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Objectives of the subject is to provide students an overview of the lighting technology, to explain the principles of light sources, luminaires and applications of lighting systems. To verify the lighting parameters and to elaborate a lighting design with respect to the principles of energy efficiency and energy performance for case studies.
 
Prerequisites and co-requisites: none
 
Course contents:
Light and lighting - fundamental principles. Eye and vision.
Radiant and photometric quantities and units.
Thermal radiation and light sources. Incandescent lamps.
Fluorescent lamps and discharge lamps.
LED lamps and systems.
Luminaires and their components.
Measurement of photometric parameters.
Light planning, basic lighting calculations.
Fundamentals of interior lighting.
Fundamentals of exterior lighting.
