|University:||Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava|
|Faculty:||Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology|
|Course unit code:||N422I3_4B|
|Course unit title:||Integrated Control in Process Industries|
|Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:|
|Recommended semester/trimester:||Automation, Information Engineering and Management in Chemistry and Food Industry - bachelor (semi-compulsory), 6. semester|
Automation, Information Engineering and Management in Chemistry and Food Industry - bachelor (semi-compulsory), 6. semester
|Level of study:||1.|
|Prerequisites for registration:||none|
|The students write 2 written tests during the semester. They write also tests at the beginning of laboratory verifying the readiness to practice. They write reports of the individual assignments. The final rating is calculated as follows: 10% tests from the laboratory, 30% reports, 30% each written test. The final rating will be determined in accordance with rules established by the study rules STU.|
|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|Students have become familiar with basic principles of process identification from aperiodic or periodic step responses. They know principles of process control using complex control structures. They are familiar with principles of control of chosen processes that are typical in chemical industry using simple and complex control structures. Students know basic principles of advanced control methods.|
|Process identification from aperiodic or periodic step response.
Feedback and feed-forward control.
Complex control structures: cascade control, complex control structure with disturbance measurement, complex control structure with auxiliary control input, time-delay compensator - Smith predictor and its modifications, ratio control.
Process control: control of tanks, control of mixing units, control of heat exchangers, control of distillation columns, control of chemical reactors, control of dryers.
Basic principles of advanced control methods: adaptive control, robust control, predictive control, fuzzy control, artificial neural networks in process control.
