Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will obtain basic knowledge about properties of colloid dispersed systems as well as macromolecular systems. Students will become familiar with the applications of such systems in food, technological and medical praxis.
Prerequisites and co-requisites: none
Course contents:
The subjet of cooloid chemistry. Types of colloid dispersed systems. Distribution functions of polydispersed systems. Phase interfaces. Adsorption at the movable and solid surfaces. Adsorption isotherms. Electrical properties of interfaces. Kinetic, rheological and optical properties of colloid dispersed systems. Conformations of biopolymers in solution. Heterogenous dispersed systems. Associative colloids, gels. Nanomaterials. Properties and toxicity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The subject is lectured 13 weeks (2 hours lecure). Students make projects which will be defended at the end of semester.
Assesment methods and criteria: Exam. In the course of the semester student presentations will be delivered. The topic of the presentation will be approved in advance.
