Assesment methods:
During the semester students have developed and present selected topics in the exercises. This activity is a prerequisite for credit and admittance to the exam. Exam is written. To obtain evaluation A need to demonstrate control of the curriculum for at least 92%, for evaluation B to at least 83%, for evaluation C for at least 74%, for evaluation D to at least 65% and for evaluation E at least 56%.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire knowledge of industrial methods of production of basic chemicals and intermediates based on the carbon-based raw materials such as oil, natural gas and coal, in a way from the complex reaction mechanism to examples of technology. He can take a position on the possibility of using renewable raw materials for the production of industrially important chemicals in terms of sustainability chemistry.
 
Course contents:
Reaction mechanisms, basic processes and technology for production of the most important organic compounds, intermediates and final organic chemicals using particular alkylation, acylation, isomerization, polymerization, polycondensation, polyadition, halogenations, nitration, sulfonation, oxidation, hydrogenation, hydration, esterification, etherification, condensation and amination reactions.
