Learning outcomes of the course unit:
At the end of this course the student will have knowledge about planning and the scope of geotechnical investigation, methods of site investigation for different purpose and different geotechnical categories. He should be able to interpret results and date of ground investigation for the design, control and monitoring of geotechnical aspects of environmental engineering projects. The students will be able to choose the relevant methods for remediation of flooding, landslide and polluted areas. During the course the student obtains legal and economic foundations to evaluate the effectiveness of various available technologies and methods of construction of geotechnical structures. Graduates should be able to select a relevant technique for execution of geotechnical structures to protect the biosphere. Based on practical demonstrations and individual work on exercises the student will be able to acquire the basic design options for environmental geotechnics.

Specific requirements for geotechnical investigation
Geotechnical data for design and execution of geotechnical structures and works
Design, execution and monitoring of geotechnical construction for environmental purpose
Ground improvement
Geotechnical monitoring for environmental and transport construction –Supervision, testing and monitoring
Geotechnical aspects of environmental engineering projects.
Fundamentals of methods for geotechnical engineering practice for waste disposal, waste containment, and site remediation; waste landfills.
