Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject is of an interdisciplinary character. At the beginning the biology
of tissues, organs and organ structures are studied. After gaining the basic
knowledge, the mathematical formalism is applied that describes their
biomechanical behavior. Beside the soft tissues biomechanics the attention is
devoted also to a quantitative analysis of the musculoskeletal system and
biomechanics of liquids.
- Biomechanics implementation in the living systems. Biomechanics of the
tissues, organs and organ structures. Living tissues mechanical properties
- Bioelasticity of a selected class of soft and stiff tissues. The finite
element method utilization as a tool for mechanical properties of living
- Mechanical properties of materials intended for implant in the bone surgery
- Rheology of the biological liquids. Human blood rheological properties.
Physical and mathematical models of pulsation blood flow in the blood vessels.
