Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Series of lectures focuses on the interpretation of the nature of artistic eras, styles and styles in historical and culturological context from ancient times to the end of the Middle Ages. Seminars are focused on selected specific issues of technical and technological background of the development of fine and applied arts and architecture.

Arts of the Islamic World
Early Christian, Byzantine and Pre-Romanesque art in Europe
Great Moravia and Slovakia Preromanesque
And Romanesque art in the context of European cultural and social events, the situation in Slovakia
Gothic art in the context of European cultural and social life

Romanesque and Gothic art
Characteristics, morphology, philosophical essence of the Renaissance style
Italy as the cradle of the Renaissance

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Overview of the history of art and applied art and architecture from ancient times to the end of the middle ages. Teaching through lectures (1 hours) will be completed by exercise (1 hr.). Lectures with accompanying pictures. The exercises are analytical in nature (classification of artistic styles and trends with their technical and technological background).
