Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Getting the student acquainted with the fundamentals of both linear and non-linear electric circuit analysis with DC and sinusoidal AC currents and voltages in steady state. He will be able to analyze complex DC and AC linear networks using optimal approach. Knowledge obtained within this subject is a fundament for further study.

Course contents:
Basic concepts and laws in electrical engineering. Ideal and real electric circuits elements, their models. Non-ideal source, source grouping, efficiency. Basic circuit structures - parallel, series connection, voltage and current divider, bridge connection. Basic methods of circuit analysis, circuit topology, mesh and nodal analysis. Basic principles - superposition, reciprocity, compensation. Thèvenin theorem. Circuits with non-linear elements, their applications. Sinusoidal voltage and current, its complex image (phasors). Analysis of linear circuits with sinusoidal voltages and current in steady state. Power of sinusoidal current. Mutually bound inductors, model of transformer. Three-phase systems. Production of three-phase voltage, three-phase distribution systems. Power in three-phase system.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, seminars and laboratory exercises
 
Assesment methods and criteria: Two written tests are planned during the semester, each for 10 points. Laboratory exercises are obligatory, student must deliver laboratory reports, maximum for 10 points in total.
