Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Getting a deep knowledge of foundry materials and foundry processes, particularly the progressive and unconventional processes related to the topic of dissertation thesis.
Course contents:
Mould materials and their properties.
Phenomena at the metal-mould interface.
Foundry metals and alloys and their properties. The rheology of metals and alloys. Properties of metals in the semi-solid state.
The primary crystallization. Basic morphological types of primary structures. Rapid solidification processes (RSP).
Solidification processes within the high external pressure action. Solidification processes within the induced force flow action.
Diffusion controlled solidification.
Processes of first, second and third generation mould manufacturing.
Impermanent moulds casting processes.
Permanent molds casting processes.
Casting within the increased external forces action.
High pressure die casting into a high vacuum. High pressure die casting with compression.
