Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Obtain basic knowledge of manufacturing technology, in particular machine tools, forming machines and using unconventional principles. Know the the concept design of machinery, equipment and complexes as well as their efficient operation. Gain knowledge of basic operating principles of different types of production machines and become familiar with the possibilities of using such machines. Know the methods of production and use of various types of production machines. Become familiar with the importance and functionality of the basic components of production machines, such as. spindle, tool, machine frame, hydraulic systems, products, etc. ..

Course contents:
1.) Introduction to the subject Production Machines and Systems
2.) Basic therminology (production machines dividing, basic requirements)
3.) Main parts of production machines
4.) Lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, boring machines
5.) Grinding, planing, shaping machines, stretching and extrusion machines, lapping machines, honing machines, machines superfinishing
6.) Machines for material cutting, machines for gears production
7.) Unconventional technologies 1
8.) Unconventional technologies 2
9.) Forming machines (basic concepts, definitions and requirements)
10.) Mechanical presses, machines for material dividing
11.) Spindle presses, hammers, tools to pull and bend, hydraulic presses
12.) Densification machines, shredding machines

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Subject is divided into lectures and exercises. Lectures are devoted to individual technologies of machining and forming, mainly to production machines that are used for machining and forming. The exercises are a mandatory part of the subject. Requires 100% participation with a maximum of 2 hours per semester apology. The exercises are divided into five thematic sections: spindle, tool, plant, hydraulics and NC programming. On the exercises students can gain more information about these parts. On the exercises from each of mentioned sections, after the theoretical inputs students have to elaborate the semester project.
Assesment methods and criteria: Student will get credits for the subject if they successfully pass the written and oral exam.

Work placement(s): There is no compulsory work placement in the course unit.
