Assesment methods:
There will be two short tests during semester each allotted with 5 points. Furthermore students will submit two reports each for 5 points. In total, students can gain up to 20 poits for final classification during examination.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of the subject is to introduce basic experimental techniques for analysis of structure and properties of metallic and non-metallic materials to students. It is linked to fundamental information obtained during general courses such are: Nauka o Materiáloch, Fzyikálna metalurgia a medzné stavy materiálov a Technické Materiály. Due to practical case-studies, students obtain experimental skills in laboratory of metallography during preparation and analysis of structural changes in a material. Simultaneously, students are informed about practical applications of experimental methods.
 
Course contents:
The subject comprises lectures and excercises. Practical part of excercises takes place in Laboratory of Structural Analysis - LSA. Theoretical part of excercises is realized in one of classrooms of the Institute of Materials Science.
During the course, students analyze individualy structures of selected technical materials (steel, cast iron, cooper and aluminium alloy) and realize basic experiments in the field of thermal methods for analysis of solid materials.
