Prerequisites for registration:
|• Attendance to 8 laboratory experiments and submission of laboratory protocols - max. 16 points |
• Compulsory attendance to tutorials
• Tests in 5th, 8th and 11th weeks of the term - max. 3 x 10 points = 30 points
• Condition for obtaining the course credit: min. 25 points
• Final examination: theoretical part - 24 points, problem solving - 30 points
Course evaluation: A - min. 92 points, B - min. 83 points, C - min. 74 points, D - min. 65 points, and E - min. 56 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
|The aim of the course is to revise and deepen knowledge of students in selected parts of secondary school physics, which form inevitable basis for subsequent physical courses of bachelor study program. Particular emphasis is put on development of students ability to apply this knowledge in creative solving of simple problems using secondary school level mathematics.
To teach students how to use the vector algebra in solving physical and technical problems. To gain basic experimental skills in laboratory.
|Position vector of the mass point. Uniform motion and uniformly accelerated motion, determination of the equation of straight line and parabola used for description of mass point motion. Velocity and acceleration vectors, circular motion, angular displacement, angular velocity and angular acceleration,
Concept of force and its application in solving the problems of mechanical stability, addition of forces as vector quantities, vector resolution in two perpendicular components, vector coordinates in reference frame. Dynamics of mass point, Newton's laws, impulse, linear momentum, work, power. Potential and kinetic energy, the principle of conservation of mechanical energy. System of particles, the center of mass. Mechanics of rigid body. Rotational motion of rigid body, kinetic energy, moment of inertia. Equations of motion and conditions of rigid body equilibrium.
Mechanics of fluids, pressure, Bernoulli's equation. Amount of substance, Avogadro's constant, heat capacity, thermal expansion. Kinetic theory of gases. Internal energy, work, heat. 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics, the Carnot cycle, entropy.
