Preparation of semestral work and its presentation (50%). Final test (50%).
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The mission of the course History of Technology is to acquaint students with a selected group of scientific discoveries of natural sciences and technical inventions in electrical engineering and related fields (electronics, information and communication technology etc.). Historical facts and simple explanation of the content of individual scientific discoveries are presented with an emphasis on current use in production, transport, power engineering, various forms of transmission and processing of information.
 
Course contents:
History of education in electrical engineering in Slovakia, history of faculty. History of electrotechnics and electrification of Slovakia, history of nuclear power engineering in Slovakia. The world history of electrical engineering and the related scientific discoveries of natural sciences with particular emphasis on the field of electromagnetism (discoveries, ideas, inventions, personalities). Selected chapters from the history of electronics and information and communication technologies.
