Active participation in exercises and succesful passing two control tasks during the semester.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will obtain basic knowledge in the structure and working principle of hydrodynamic, hydrostatic and pneumatic components and circuits. Basic calculations, principles of design of hydraulic and pneumatic systems are solved analytically and by the use of available software products. Design of simple hydraulic and pneumatic circuits is a part of exercises.
 
Course contents:
1.The properties of liquids and gases as the working substance (liquid, gas). Principles of hydrostatics. Pascal's Law. The flow of fluids - Continuity equation, Euler equations of fluid dynamics, Bernoulli's equation for ideal and real fluids, Navier-Stokes equation, laminar and turbulent flow. Specific energy loss: a local length. Model equations of state for ideal gas and real gases. Throttling fluid. (allowance 4/4)
2.Sources of pressure fluid. Hydrostatic converters: efficiency, static characteristics, design, applications management. Classic controllers: one-way valves, distributors, butterfly valves, pressure valves. Proportional valves and switchboards. Servo valves. (allowance 6/6)
3.Features of pneumatic components. Compressed air source: properties, structure, characteristics, effect. Pneumatic motors. Pneumatic control elements. Pneumatic mechanisms (allowance 6/6)
4.Driving mechanisms for handling mass load. Multi-drives. Synchronous operation of hydraulic motors. Hydrostatic transmissions. Actuators and servo. Combined transfers. (allowance 6/6)
5.Technical documentation for the design of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and systems. Ecological, economic and energy context. Basic procedures for computer design of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. (allowance 4/4)
