Assesment methods:
To pass: semester essay, test of knowledge in 6. week, final exam.
Final test is realised by written exam. The classification consist from results in proportion semester essay 10%, test in 6. week 10%, final exam 80%.
Final classification: A 92-100%, B 83-91%, C 74-82%, D 65-73%, E 56-64%, FX less than 56%
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To acquaint students with the design of computer networks, their use,
planning and design. Clarify the basic principles of data transmission, types of communication protocols and usage of hardware resources.
Course contents:
Introduction, definition of basic concepts.
Structure of computer networks and their distribution, OSI Reference Model.
Types of transmission media, electronic transmission media, optical transmission media, wireless.
Standards of the OSI model layers, modulation, multiplexing, standards IEEE 802.11x, IEEE 802.16x, IEEE 802.3x, LLDP .
Data flow and communication in production networks, communication in SIMATIC S7 system, reliability of production networks, classes of reliability.
TCP/IP Services, TCP/IP addressing. Control of communication, UDP, TCP ports.
Internet Protocol , addressing in TCP/IP networks, IPv4, IPv6, subnets.
DNS, domain names structure in TCP/IP6)
Routing, filtering , proxy, gateway, firewall. SSH communication, tunneling, VPN.
E-mail, POP3, IMAP, MIME protocol, electronic signature.
Communication in industrial networks, topology of industrial networks, PROFINET, PROFIBUS and assignment to ISO/OSI model.
Basics of cryptography and security, IDS, IPS, honey-pot.
Reliability of communication, reliability increasing, flow control.
Authentication, access control, certificate authority.
