Active participation in the exercises, the test during the semester, semestral project - processing and defense. Successful completion of the final written examination.

Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Within the framework of studying the Mechanics of Machines and Drives students gain knowledge about the structure and functional principles of machines and drives. They will have knowledge of the particular subsystems machines and will be able to apply advanced computational methods in design of elements. They will also be able to integrate the various subsystems and to create a final equipment-machines, performing the desired target function.
 
Course contents:
•Fundamental structure of the of machines and their classification.
•Subsystems of machines - characteristics and fundamental functional principles.
•The drive subsystems and their models. Electromechanical energy conversion. Electrical machines and their computational models - DC, synchronous and asynchronous motors, stepper motors.
•Transmission subsystems and mechanisms - components for the transmission rotary motion - shafts, bearings, gearing, chain and belt transmissions, cam mechanisms - general principles for structural design, strength calculations and dimensioning.
