Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of this course is to present basic knowledge of the following separate disciplines of solid mechanics: statics, kinematics and dynamics. The course content is designed to obtain fundamental knowledge of basic mass objects in an equilibrium or in a motion state. Students will be able to analyze mechanical systems in terms of statics, kinematics and dynamics.
They will be able to formulate and analyze relevant problems, set up their mathematical-mechanical model, to apply of loading and stress of simple mechanical systems. By the solutions this model, they obtain the knowledge about the properties and behavior of the mechanical system.
 
Prerequisites and co-requisites: none
 
Course contents:
 Basic concepts and laws of statics. Force systems-substitution and equilibrium. Statically determinate/indeterminate mechanical systems. Supports and connections. Determination of internal structural forces.
 The equlibrium of objects in plane. Static analysis of moving and stationary multibody systems. Analysis of trusses. Friction and passive resistance.
 Kinematics of rigid bodies. The conditions and principles for plane motion of objects. Fundamental cases of rigid body motion. Relations between the kinematic variables.
 Kinematical analysis of plane linkage-analytical solution methods.
 Dynamics of mass particle and mass particles. Formulation of the equations of motion.
 Rigid body dynamics. Equations of motion and their solution.
 Dynamics of multibody system. Solution methods-free body diagram, method of reduction.
 Linear vibration of SDOF systems.
