Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students receive theoretical knowledge (the control program and its structure, organizational block, organization of memory systems, used data types, coding, and fieldbus protocols ..) and will acquire:
- practical basis for designing and implementing of control programs and systems for industrial programmable logic controllers (hardware configuration stations and modules, parameterization, implementation, simulation and testing, use of data blocks ..). Students will learn programming techniques PLC under standard IEC 61131 (LAD, FBD, STL) and learn to design, implement, test and document PLC software.

Course contents:
1 Bool Algebra - Logical operations, minimizing logic functions.
2 Characteristics of programmable logic Controler - PLC cycle, PLC firmware, memory organization, hardware configuration, communication interfaces.
3 Programming Principles PLC - Programming Languages according to IEC 61131-3 (LAD, FBD, STL).
4 Control program and its structure - Status diagrams.
5 Realization of logic functions - Use of counters and timers, mathematical functions.
6 Sequential control algorithms.
7 The life cycle of the logical control system and its documentation.

Siemens: Kurz Simatic S7 (ST7-PROG1)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods: During the exercise the student is acquainted with the environment and Simatic Manager STEP7 programming tools, learn how to configure the station and the individual modules, use input-output interface, logic elements, features and functionality offered by the environment. Facilitating role and tasks, developed for each exercise, whether at home, the student learns to design and implement a control program, and verify its operation either in a PLC simulator or using physical models of technological processes and controlled objects.
