|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|To acquaint students with the design of computer networks, their use,
planning and design. Clarify the basic principles of data transmission, types of communication protocols and usage of hardware resources.
|Introduction, definition of basic concepts.
Structure of computer networks and their distribution.
OSI Reference Model.
Types of transmission media, electronic transmission media, optical transmission media, wireless.
Standards of the 1st and 2nd layer of the OSI model. Technology of the standards IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD, IEEE 802.4 token bus, IEEE 802.5 token ring
TCP/IP Services, TCP/IP addressing.
The structure of domain names on networks based on TCP/IP.
Internet Protocol - IP, ICMP, ARP, RARP, IGMP.
Application Protocols - Telnet, FTP, Gopher, WWW, SNMP
DNS, routing, filtering, proxy gateway, firewall
E-mail - POP3, IMAP, MIME protocol
HTML creation, publication, placement and operation principles http server.
Basics of cryptography and security.
