Tests during the term, individual project solution, final written exam.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students give an overview to the principles of designa and programming of automated measurement systems. They gain skill in automated information transfer form the real world. Student are able to manage moder methods of graphical programming of virtual instruments. They acquire a methodology of evaluation of distributed measurement system performance in terms of used hardware and software.
Course contents:
Definition and classification of distributed measurement systems (DMS).
Architecture of DMS. Interfaces of DMS. Communication of DMS.
Virtual instruments (VI). Programming of VI using standard interfaces. Methods of graphical programming of VI.
Data collection system design. Design of instrument using data aquisition cards and standard interfaces.
Management of cooperating VI.
The performance of DMS, the impact of hardware and software on its performance.
