Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The course deals with urbanization impact on hydrological cycle, computing methods of surface runoff in urban areas (including sewer system runoff). Students become familiar with basic knowledge of runoff simulation and pollution transport simulation and also with basic principles of storm water runoff effect on receiving water. Monitoring methods of sewer systems and receiving waters, as well as basic methods of storm water regulation and retention on catchment surface and in sewer network, the aim of which is to achieve sustainable development of urban areas and reduction of negative impact on urban waters will also be explained within the course.
Course contents:
 Urbanization consequences -- change of runoff process, pollution of storm runoff.
 Determination of formation and concentration of surface runoff on urban catchments
 Storm water runoff modelling in sewer networks
 Storm water runoff pollution. Modelling of pollution transport in sewer networks
 Runoff and wastewater influence on receiving watercourse. Receiving water course pollution modelling.
 Measures for storm water detention and retention.
 Sewerage master plans, conceptual approach in urban sewerage.
 The use of GIS in sewer design and operation.
