development and defense of a seminar work, correct elaboration of at least two homeworks
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject shows applications of mathematics in architecture and civil engineering both from art and technical point of view
 
Course contents:
- Mathematics in Architecture before the era of computers. Golden Section,
Golden Rectangle and their connection to the Logarithmic Spiral, Fibonacci
Sequence and Fibonacci Numbers. Their applications in Architecture and Art.
- Polygons in Mathematics, Nature and Architecture. Vinci - geodesic dome, Golden Triangle,
Petangon, Hexagon, Mosaic and their symmetries in Mathematics and in Nature.
- Polyhedra in Mathematics and in Nature: Crystals, Platonic Solids and Kepler-Poinsot Solids. Curves in Mathematics: Circle, Parabola, Hyperbola. Special Surfaces: Helix Surface, Moebius
Band and Klein Bottle.
-Mathematics in Modern Architecture, Non-Euclidean geometry, Fractals.
- Utilization of the multiphysical software for prediction of the physical parameters of the designed buildings – mechanical and thermal reviewing of the building and its parts, elementary fluid flow tasks.
