University: Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava
Faculty: Faculty of Civil Engineering
Course unit code: I1-OEXP
Course unit title: Optimization of experiment
Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:
lecture2 hours weekly (on-site method)
laboratory/construction practice2 hours weekly (on-site method)

Credits allocated: 4
Recommended semester/trimester: Mathematical and Computational Modeling - master (compulsory), 4. semester
Level of study: 2.
Prerequisites for registration: none
Assesment methods:
56 points from 100 should be attained during the semester (at least 28 points from project and 28 points from the theory)
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Obtaining of a basic knowledge of the design and optimization of the
experiment: build a mathematical model of the experiment, choose the
appropriate criterion of optimality (or calculate the compromise optimal
design of the experiment) and learn the methods for calculating the optimal
design of the regression experiments. The student will be able to formulate
and solve complex problems of design and optimization of an experiment from
different areas of construction practice.

Course contents:
- Construction of a mathematical model of the experiment.
- Optimality criteria.
- Compromise optimal experiments design.
- Direct and iterative methods for calculating the optimal design of regression experiments.
- Applications calculating the optimal design of experiment in different areas of construction practice.
