Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Introduction to the problematic of reliability of building structures. Causes and manifestation of failures, faults and errors of concrete structures. The practice of evaluation of existing building structures. Diagnostic methods to gain data about properties and condition of materials and structures to evaluate their reliability and lifespan. Static analysis of structural members at repair and strengthening of buildings and civil engineering works. Principles, methods and materials used at repair and strengthening of concrete construction.
Course contents:
• Analysis of errors and failures
• Physical and chemical effects on the properties of concrete. Concrete and reinforcement
corrosion. Classification of environmental conditions and concrete resistance.
• Static a technological cracks - diagnostic, methods and materials for repair.
• General procedures for the assessment and evaluation of existing structures. Diagnostic of
materials and structures. Testing methods and field tests.
• Principles and methods of protection and repair by STN EN 1504. Repair materials and the
compatibility with concrete substrates. Secondary protection systems.
• Control of repair procedures and materials
• Special repair procedures.
• Principles, methods and materials for strengthening of concrete structures.
