|Learning outcomes of the course unit:|
|The aim of this course is for students to learn the basic principles and methodology of residential buildings design as well as buildings for temporary accommodation.
Lecture seriesprovide an insightinto the problems related to designing residential buildings in their fundamental typological spectrum.Lectures focus on practical design principles explaining the essential underlying principles that follow: typology of residential buildings, living environment, form, shape, size and function of designed buildings whilerespecting fundamental typological, planning, urbanistic, architectural, structural and aesthetic rules.
The seminar focuses on practical teaching of basic principles of residential buildingsdesign. Set of exercises establishes a basic methodological tool for the related design studio focusing on family house and apartment building.Schedule of exercises is coordinated with the lecture series and studio work.
|Lectures: they offer a comprehensive view of the basic principles of residential buildingsdesign in the broader spectrum of the following topics:
Housing Characteristics -basic requirements for designing a residential environment -- design principles of residential buildings -- design principles of family and apartment houses -- apartment (basic unit of apartment house) -- structure, modular coordination and vertical communication, vertical communication in different types of apartment buildings - design principles of buildings for temporary accommodation (hotels, residence halls) - barrier-free design of residential buildings.
Seminar: consists of 12 practical assignments, which require students to mastertypology and design principles of apartment buildingsand family houses, apartment as a base unit of residential buildings, hotels, residence halls and the principles of barrier-free residential buildings.
