Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of this course is to provide students with insight into global trends in housing in the current context of sustainable development. Primary focus is on the topics related to the current issue of design of residential buildings in the context of city and beyond it. The course deals with the evaluation of specific features of various residential and mixed-use structures in relation to their spatial context (multifunctional urban apartment building, living in historic areas, living in the suburbs) as well as various specific topics - tower apartment buildings, embassies and embassy residences, smart apartment building, prefabricated apartment building, an experiment in housing and hotels in extreme conditions.
 
Course contents:
Lectures follow the course objective with regularly updated topics: new concepts of residential houses (the current state - Slovakia, abroad), concepts of sustainable and efficient housing, intelligent apartment building, prefabricated apartment building, specific forms of temporary accomodation, contemporary residential architecture, philosophical contexts and lifestyle.

Seminar: Individually prepared topic assigned according to lectures.
