Assesment methods:
The prerequisite for the subject is participation in lectures, practical exercises in the photo-studio and processing of given tasks. Checks are ongoing throughout the semester. The activity, the understanding of the issue, the quality of the submitted assignments and the knowledge shift are evaluated.
Up to 3 abstentions are allowed, which must be replaced at the agreed date with the teacher.
All processed jobs are handed edited "continuously" in electronic form throughout the semester. Finished selected photos taken in a photolab (with embedded own logo) and a poster are handed in the agreed size at the last lessons.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The aim of the subject is to use the basics of photography and practical acquaintance with the digital photographic process, mastering his idea, content, form and subsequent postproduction within the product photography.
Students work with a digital camera and photographic equipment in the photo studio and acquire the basic knowledge necessary to photographic promotion of their design works and models by using creative exercises.
To acquire the principles of image composition in photographic genres: portrait, appropriation, product (from different for shooting complicated materials), still life, backstage photo, manipulated photo, drawing by light, document, documenting workflow in modeling and creating a suitable application of photography in graphic design .
Students work on photos in photo studio with the help of available photo equipment and continuously upload "edited" electronic photo series (3-5pcs) on themes: group portrait, portrait, appropriation, product photo: own model, metal, glass, macro image, still life: fruits, flowers, etc. Other possible themes are a documentary, a light drawing in studio or an exterior, or a main topic of the subject Graphics Design.
The main assignment consists of the creation of appropriation based on the selected painting from the history of art. This photo will be used in some graphic design layout or photomontage on a 50x75cm poster (using a logo and an invented slogan).
The aim of the subject is to work regularly in the photo studio, to acquire knowledge, skills and practice in the collective, reflect own individual results and the acquired knowledge of the subject to be used in the product photography.
Part of the subject is a visit a photographic exhibition and write short review, an excursion in Photolab or in some Fine Art Print Studio.
Course contents:
1. Opening lesson, acquaintance with the photo studio, its technical possibilities and the previous results of the subject.
2. Lecture of portrait photography and exercise of lighting of portrait. Practical task - using of basic settings (aperture, time, ISO) in the photo studio. Taking of a group portrait, portrait of a classmate and backstage photo.
3. A lecture on Digital Photo Processing, combined with editing of raw photos in Camera Raw software.
4. Lecture (associated with the film about Annie Leibovitz) and the subsequent main task: Apropriations.
5. Exercise: surreal still-life with fruits, flowers etc.
6. Lecture about lighting of products and exercises dedicated to product photography according to materials (own model, metal, glass, macro).
7. Making the poster with photography and slogan.

All the assignments are sent by the student electronically throughout the semester in the form of: surname_firstname_task_01.jpg, ... _02.jpg, etc. and finished photos and a poster at the last lesson.
