Assesment methods:
The classified credit is in the form of written test; in order to pass the test, student has to acquire at least 56 % points
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
To get the students acknowledged with the common methods of fix and active capital requirements estimation for an industrial project; including the project profitability criteria and the optimum variant selection procedure. The main emphasis is laid on the economic and engineering principles shaping the facility design.
 
Course contents:
Perspective of an industrial project, aim and accuracy of costs appraisal. Fix and active capital, division of costs in cathegories. Interests, increase of costs, inflation, price indices. Fast methods of capital costs appraisal, indexing. Factor-based methods of costs appraisal, Lang factors, detailed factor-based methods. Facility costs appraisal, selected methods. Calculation of capital costs for a given project example. Depreciation. Operational costs, their structure and estimation. Calculation of production costs for a given project example. Cash flow, cash flow diagram, time value of money. Return of investment, rate of investment return, project profitability. Economic assessment of industrial projects. Methods for optimum variant selection. Strategy of proposal elaboration and the form of proposal report.
