Assesment methods:
- active participation in the exercises,
- elaboration of three design tasks during semester
I. program: Axonometric and orthogonal projection
II. program: Drawing of normalization parts
III. program: Design of production drawings

Final exam - successful completion of written examination.
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Course objective is to obtain knowledge of the basic rules relating to the design work and the principles necessary for expressing technical ideas and technical basis for drawing up the technical documentation as basic method for the technical and engineering works. The student will be able to read and technical drawings. He obtain an overview of the different types of machine elements and structures in relation to their function and mutual functional link, as well as about kinds, labeling and the application of technical materials.
 
Course contents:
1.Lecture 1. Introduction to the subject. Technical standardization. The technical documentation, types, formats, and folding of technical drawings - according to STN ISO. Scales in the technical drawings. Types and thicknesses of lines. Descriptions of technical drawings. (allowance 2/2)
 
a.General instructions to the exercise.
b.The basic information and induction to work in CAD systems. Introduction to the program AutoCAD.

2.Lecture 2. Displaying in the technical documentation - orthographic, perspective and other methods for displaying. Projecting methods (method of I. quadrant, method of III. quadrant). (allowance 2/2)
 
a.Displaying and work with entities in the program AutoCAD.

3.Lecture 3. Creation and descriptions of cuts and sections - according to STN ISO. Drawing of penetrations - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

b.Displaying perspectives examples.

4.Lecture 4. Dimensioning and dimensioning principles of technical drawings - according to STN ISO. Dimensioning of recesses and center holes - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

5.Lecture 5. Classification of machine parts. Screws, screw types, thread profile, using, drawing and dimensioning - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

6.Lecture 6. Nuts, nute types, cotter pins, washers - the types and drawing - according to STN ISO using. Bolted joints, drawing, insurance of bolted joints - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

b.Working with technical standards.
c.1. regular assessment.

7.Lectures 7. Collar pins, pins, keys, parallel keys, spline shafts and hubs - types, using a drawing by STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

b.Drawing of and dimensioning of threads, cuts, sections.

8.Lecture 8. Surface roughness - basic terms and definitions. Surface roughness characteristics. Description of surface state on the drawings - according to STN ISO. Special surface treatment and prescribe them on the drawings. (allowance 2/2)

b.The rules of typing the title block.

9.Lectures 9. The tolerance of dimensional accuracy. Fundamentals of tolerance of length, angle and conical dimensions. Placing, degrees of accuracy, hole basis system and shaft basis system. Description of tolerated dimensions on the drawings - according to STN ISO. Non-prescribed limit deviations of lengths and angular dimensions, description on the drawings - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)

b.Prescription of raw products and roughness on technical drawings.

10.Lecture 10. Geometric tolerancing. Types, characteristics and prescription of geometrical tolerances - according to STN ISO. Unprescribed geometrical tolerances and their description on technical drawings - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)
 
a.Work on III. programme.
b.Calculation of the tolerances for single hole system.

11.Lecture 11. Permanent joinings - riveted joints, welded joints. Drawing of and marking on technical drawings - according to STN ISO. The joints formed by soldering and bonding. (allowance 2/2)

b.Prescription of geometric tolerances on technical drawings.

12.Lecture 12. Bearings - classification, characteristics and drawing. Shafts - types and characteristics. Shaft seals - description and application. Springs - types and applications. Displaying of springs on the drawings. (allowance 2/2)

13.Lecture 13. Mechanical transmissions. Gearing - characteristics. The basic parameters of gearing. Display of gears, on the drawings. View and dimensioning of gears - according to STN. Display of chain, belt and friction transmissions - according to STN ISO. (allowance 2/2)
 
a.Corrective term for semestral regular assessmnets.
b.Information about results of regular assessments - in accordance with generally valid conditions.
c.Information concerning the completion of final examination.
