Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will acquire theoretical knowledge of the interaction of aquatic and terrestrial stream zones in terms of habitat creation. The design parameters of technical measures supporting the diversity of the riverbed to create optimal conditions for stream habitat will be shown.
The second part is focused on the basis of evaluation of abiotic and biotic parameters of the stream, ecological aspects of river restoration and strategy for improving the quality of water courses.
Included will be modeling of the quality of aquatic habitat and design of the technical solutions and river restoration measures, supported by computer technology.
Course contents:
• Morphological characteristics of water courses and their impact on the biota in aquatic habitat.
• Ecological aspects of river restoration.
• Evaluation of the quality of aquatic habitat using bioindication.
• Acquiring and processing of documents for river restoration.
• Effect of the river training on the morphological stability and ecological changes in the environment of the water courses.
• Caring for aquatic and terrestrial habitats.
