Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:
workshop2 hours weekly / 26 hours per semester of study (on-site method)

Credits allocated: 5
Recommended semester/trimester: Theory and Environmental Technology of Buildings - doctoral (semi-compulsory), 1. year
Level of study: 3.
Prerequisites for registration: none
Assesment methods:
during the semester
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will be acquainted with principles of the election and design of the central heating systems in building objects and their particular components according the programme of rationalization of fuels and energy consumption, especially heat sources -- boiler-houses, heat transfer stations, elements of heating systems and their practical applications in the heating technology.
Course contents:
Principles of the theory of the indoor environment (IE). Analysis of factors of the thermal, humidity and aerodynamic condition of the IE. Thermal comfort. Simplified model of the thermal balance for the IE.
Need of the heat and energy for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, heating-up of the warm service water and technology use. Design heat load. Connection values. Calculation and design of conventional heating appliances. Specific heat power at a linear and logarithmic temperature difference, coefficients for correction.
Diagrams of connection of the boiler-houses for heating and heating-up of warm service water, control of the boiler-houses for solid, liquid, gaseous fuel and biomass. Calculation and design of particular components of the heat source -- low pressure and medium pressure boiler-house for solid, liquid, gaseous fuel and electric power.
Water systems and vapour systems of the central heating, division, sorts, characteristics and application. Combined heating systems.
Representation of the machinery in projects of the central heating. Accessories of the heat sources and heating systems, security equipments, recirculation pumps, valves, piping and water treatment.
Heat transfer stations (HTS), division and schemes of connection. Calculation and design of components of the HTS.
Energy and fuel consumption. Payment of costs for the heating and heating-up of warm service water. Energy economy of the heating of buildings and certification of heat sources.
