Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Extension and intensification of problems related to data processing and analysis. Linear models applied in estimation theory, application of least squares method. Linear regression, harmonic analysis, approximation of empirical functions. Ability to perform mathematical formulation, stochastic modeling and statistical estimation for typical situations occurring in geodesy. Analysis of information obtained.
Course contents:
- Three stages of data processing in geodesy -- deterministic, stochastic and statistical models.
- Linear models for direct observations, indirect observations and observations with conditions
- Parameter estimation using the least squares approach
- Linear regression, types of regression functions, approximation of empirical functions
- Correlation analysis, mathematical and physical correlation in geodesy
- Application of complex models for observation processing with subsequent analysis and interpretation
- Examination of processing and analysis for typical situations in geodesy and cartography
