Final grade is determined according to following criteria: A 92–100 points, B 83–91 points, C 74–82 points, D 65–73 points, E 56–64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students get acquainted with the existing technical means of automation for control of technological processes in chemical and food industry with commonly used sensor, actuators and industrial control systems.
Course contents:
The course is divided into three main chapters, while each chapter contains associated topics:

1. Sensors - measurements of process quantities

a. electricity and electrical signals
b. sensor characteristics
c. temperature sensors
d. pressure sensors
e. RC circuits and noise filters
f. measurement of mechanics and physical properties of fluids

2. Actuators - control of technological processes

a. DC motors
b. AC motors
c. motor control
d. valves and pumps

3. Industrial control computers

a. introduction to industrial control hardware
b. programmable logic controllers
c. industrial networks and protocols
d. digital implementation of control
