Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Improvement of spoken and written communication skills with respect to graduates'academic and professional needs on a specific level of language competence.
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
-read and understand specialist literature
-talk about general and professional topics in the form of a monologue and dialogue
Course contents:
Grammatical, lexical and syntactical structures: specifics of tense usage, frequently used prepositional phrases, differences between general and specialist style, degrees of formality, technical terms used in electrical engineering and informatics.
• Writing: definition, instruction, description, report, electronic correspondence.
• Working with text: informative and study reading, reading for general and specific information, guessing the meaning from context.
• Speaking: conversation focused on specialist topics, small talk (discussion, telephoning, presentation techniques).
