Assesment methods:
Active participation in seminars and labs. Two tests on seminars and six laboratory reports from the labs - 30% (the condition of credit from that 15%). The final exam (written/spoken) - 70%.

Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The course will help the students to develop their practical skills in the analysis of electric circuits concerning the periodic sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal steady states as well as transients. Some basic concepts of electromagnetics such as electrostatics, magnetostatics and time-varying electromagnetic fields will also be provided. The emphasis on this course is important, since familiarity with the basic circuit analysis techniques will greatly ease the task of learning more advanced ideas in electronics and telecommunication.

Course contents:
1. Multi terminal element circuits
2. Resonant circuits and frequency responses (transfer functions, Bode plots and electrical filters)
3. Periodic non sinusoidal steady state and non linear phenomena in electric circuits
4. Fourier transform (signal analysis)
5. Transfer characteristics in linear systems (the unit impulse response, the unit step response and convolution)
6. Transients and Laplace transform
7. Transmission lines (electric circuits with distributed elements)
8. Electromagnetics - basic concepts
9. Stationary electric field
10. Stationary magnetic field
11. Time varying electromagnetic field and Maxwells equations
12. Electromagnetic waves and their propagation in an unbounded medium, basic ways of generation of electromagnetic waves
