Individual works: preparation of 10 individual numerical programs. Exam
 
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Practical skills in numerical methods used in physical and technical problems.
 
Course contents:
Stability and accuracy of numerical results. Comparison of numerical and analytical methods. Numerical stability of iterative algorithms. Transmission of particle through barrier, scattering of waves on interfaces, time evolution of metastabile state. Differential equations: numerical algorithms, ceigenenergies of bound systems, dynamical systems, non-linear dynamics, strange attractors. Fractals and multifractal: properties and methods of analysis. Partial differential equations: parbolic and elliptic equations, implicit and explicit methods, stability. Integrals, classical orthogonal polynomials. Integral equations. Random systems, probability distriution. Methods of optimisation: models with two and more parameters.
