Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students acquire the knowledge of the apparatus construction used in chemical and food industries. They learn to analyze the stress state of structural components of tubular heat exchange apparatus, column apparatus and thick-walled vessels with various types of loads.
Course contents:
Low cycle fatigue of apparatus, characteristics, computing relations and assessment of fatigue. Assessment of static strength of apparatus according to groups of stress categories, brittle fracture, the determination of residual life.
Tubular apparatus, characteristics, process specification, the design. Geometric and strength characteristics for the calculation of the tube plates of various designs.
Column apparatus, description, process specification, the strain. Proposal of wall thickness of column apparatus, design and check calculation, the conditions of stability and strength.
Column apparatus, built in accessories, main types, designs of attachment of plates, fillings and accessories.
High-pressure vessels, typical structural design, process specification, the calculation of wall thickness of apparatus. The stresses in thick-walled vessels, the conditions of strength, autofrettage principle of high-pressure apparatus.
