Assesment methods:
During the semester, the student will elaborate semestral tasks up for 30 points (minimum 15 points). The written exam is rated by 70 points. To pass exam test must be at least 36 points. Student receives credit when successfully completed semestral tasks and written exam (maximum 100 points). Evaluation is done by points as follows: A 100-91 points B 90-81 points C 80-71 points 70-61 points D, E 60-51 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student obatin knowledges of motor vehicle design and construction requirements and characteristics of individual vehicle categories. Have a view about controllability and maneuverability of vehicles. Know to analyze reliability and durability of vehicles and their operational characteristics. Know to solve of the conceptual design of the vehicle categories. Know the specifics of designing off-road vehicles, buses, tractors and special vehicles. Know to analyze the properties of the arrangement of transportation means.
Course contents:
Basic design of motor vehicles. The distribution of vehicles and their parameters. Requirements for performance motorcycles, cars and trucks, tractors and vehicles with high throughput field. Requirements for passenger comfort and service. Supporting passage of vehicles and profile in the field and their improvement. Wading depth and buoyancy wheeled vehicles. The safety of motor vehicles. Reliability and durability of vehicles. Ensuring trouble-free operation. Maintainability, reparability. Requirements for the life of vehicles and their engines. Productivity and its own costs in road transport. Arrangement of motorcycles. Conceptual design frame and suspension. Effect of basic parameters on the properties of the structure. Conceptual design of cars, buses, commercial vehicles and small trucks. Layout. Basic concepts of vehicle combinations. Couplings and articulated vehicles. Concept of wheeled and tracked tractors. Layout of mobile working machines. Arrangements of the running belt mechanism.
