Assesment methods:
Credits are awarded for the presentation of an individual study of a selected problem and a critical discussion. The PhD student will prepare his / her own critical analysis on the given topic and present it in the seminar. The presentation of the seminar paper and its evaluation by other PhD students in the discussion is a prerequisite for recognition of the subject's completion.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The PhD student has an overview of the current state of knowledge and practice in the field of the theory of architecture, architectural design and research results achieved in the field of architecture, which is related to the topic of his dissertation work. The PhD student is prepared to analyze and critically reflect top scientific knowledge and artistic performances in this field.
Course contents:
The subject reflects the latest knowledge and results of research in the theory of architecture, history of architecture and architectural design. The PhD students are acquainted with the current results of the research of teachers and scientists at the STU Faculty of Architecture, as well as with the results of the research of invited guests from the external environment. Lecture topics vary depending on the actual knowledge and focus of lecturers.
