Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student has information on the basic principles and possibilities of molecular spectroscopy techniques and is able to apply the acquired knowledge to solve specific problems of PhD. thesis.
 
Course contents:
The interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter.
Nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, NMR parameters , instrumentation, applications in structure determination of organic compounds).
Nuclear quadrupole resonance (basic theory and applications).
Electron paramagnetic resonance (basic theory, instrumentation, hyperfine interaction, application and simulation analysis of spectra).
Infrared spectroscopy (basic theory, experimental techniques, application and interpretation of IR spectra).
Raman spectroscopy (Raman effect, experimental technique, application and interpretation of spectra.
Electronic spectroscopy in the UV/vis (basic theory, experimental technique, interpretation of spectra). Emission electronic spectroscopy (theoretical background, experimental techniques, applications).
Photoelectron spectroscopy (theoretical background , experimental techniques, applications).
Mössbauer spectroscopy (theoretical background, experimental techniques, applications).
MS (basic theory, ionization methods, experimental techniques, applications in structure determination of organic compounds).
